DCWC successfully delivered Melbourne Airport's Taxiway Delta, enhancing airfield capacity and supporting future expansion.
In collaboration with Melbourne Airport and project partners Beca and Fulton Hogan, our aviation project management team are proud to have delivered Taxiway Delta as part of the Taxiway Zulu 2.0 project, marking a significant milestone in Melbourne Airport’s largest airfield expansion in over a decade.
The new 800-metre Taxiway Delta runs parallel to the east-west (09/27) runway and was constructed over 11 months using 43,000m³ of cutting-edge concrete pavement and advanced construction technologies. This project enhances airfield capacity, reduces maintenance demands, and facilitates the future expansion of Melbourne Airport’s northern precinct and international terminal.
Commencing in late 2018 for DCWC, the project encountered challenges, including a pause during COVID, but our dedicated team remained committed throughout. Led by Wen Li, initially the external project manager for the Northern Access Route, and supported by Aaron Coelho and Matthew Walker, the team worked tirelessly to achieve the project’s objectives. DCWC Director and National Aviation Lead, Henry Ashton, commended them, saying, "It's been great to watch our team develop on this project, growing in capability throughout the process and providing the exceptional service to Melbourne Airport that our reputation is built upon."
