Our Reconciliation Journey

DCWC is dedicated to supporting Australia’s reconciliation journey. We believe that reconciliation will improve our business and ultimately contribute to creating a sustainable, vibrant, and connected future for all Australians.

Indigenous Engagement.

At DCWC, our commitment to reconciliation has been an ongoing journey. While we previously implemented a Reconciliation Action Plan (RAP), it expired in 2023. Since then, we’ve been working to create a new and meaningful approach. By late 2024, we decided to pivot away from developing a certified RAP and instead focus on creating our own Indigenous Engagement Plan (IEP). This shift allows us to embrace a more genuine, realistic and achievable pathway to reconciliation, tailored to the size and capabilities of our business, and underpinned by four key goals:

  • Goal 1. Strengthen Respect and Recognition.
  • Goal 2. Foster Partnership & Collaboration through economic opportunities.
  • Goal 3. Promote Empowerment and Opportunity.
  • Goal 4: Ensure Governance and Reporting.

“DCWC has demonstrated a clear national commitment to developing strong relationships with First Australians businesses and encouraging more opportunities for First Australians employment. It has been a positive experience to work with an invested Australian-owned company towards this commitment”.Dwayne Good, Founder of InTravel Group

Our current Indigenous engagement initiatives.

  • Our Supply Nation membership offers significant potential and fosters the growth of Indigenous business partnerships across DCWC's operations. We provide support that capitalises on our strengths through pro-bono and low-bono project management and quantity surveying services for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities, as well as the organisations that support these communities.
  • We celebrate NAIDOC Week annually with an in-office Welcome to Country and cultural presentation led by a local Elder, and we actively encourage our employees to participate in #NRW events throughout the week.
  • We are dedicated to promoting Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander business growth and economic participation. Some of our direct Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander partners include InTravel Group, Yaru Water, and others. Indirectly, we collaborate with many Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander partners to deliver projects.
  • DCWC is a member of CareerTrackers and is working to welcome Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander tertiary interns into our business.
