DCWC is providing full cost management services for the redevelopment of the iconic Perth Concert Hall, a heritage-listed brutalist structure originally designed by Howlett and Bailey Architects and opened in 1973.
The project aims to enhance the experience for artists, audiences and the community while preserving the building's architectural integrity and renowned acoustic features. The redevelopment, designed by WITH Architecture Studio and Office for Metropolitan Architecture (OMA), has reached a significant milestone with the award of the main works contract to ADCO Constructions.
Key aspects of the redevelopment include:
Preservation of the concert hall’s distinctive character and acoustic qualities.
Essential structural maintenance to uphold the award-winning architecture.
Upgraded auditorium seating, new rehearsal spaces, and enhanced backstage facilities.
Refurbished foyer areas with improved signage, lighting, and new food and beverage outlets.
Expansion of the level two foyer to create new bar and social gathering spaces.
New administration, rehearsal rooms, and instrument storage for the West Australian Symphony Orchestra.
Enhanced accessibility, including a remodelled auditorium entry, new lifts and stairs, additional toilets, and a relocated box office.
Transformation of the northern forecourt and outdoor spaces for community use.
Following essential structural works undertaken in 2025, the main construction works have now begun, with the Hall scheduled to reopen in January 2028. Upon completion, the building will be the permanent home of the West Australian Symphony Orchestra and the premier destination for music and entertainment in Perth.
