The Ningaloo Centre, located 1,250 kilometres north of Perth, is a state-of-the-art facility designed by SITE Architecture Studio in collaboration with the Shire of Exmouth.

This $34 million, 5,062 square metre multi-purpose building serves as a hub for research, education, tourism and community engagement. It fulfills several key roles, acting as a community centre, visitor centre, museum, gallery and a TAFE educational facility.

The Centre aims to foster connections between locals and visitors, featuring versatile communal areas for social interaction along with amenities such as food services and Wi-Fi. Its architectural design thoughtfully reflects the surrounding landscape, incorporating large structural elements and abundant natural light while optimising passive cooling and energy efficiency.

A dedicated research building supports the University of Western Australia and TAFE by providing essential facilities for Ningaloo Reef research and training, which are seamlessly integrated with the exhibition spaces. The project also includes a community conference and performing arts centre, enhancing its cultural importance.

DCWC provided comprehensive quantity surveying services throughout the project, ensuring effective cost control and administration from the initial estimates to the construction phase. The Ningaloo Centre stands as a testament to community-focused architecture, promoting conservation, education, and tourism in the unique Ningaloo Coast World Heritage area.
