The $1.1 billion Frankston Hospital redevelopment, the largest health infrastructure investment in Melbourne's south-east, is transforming healthcare services for the region.

This ambitious project includes a new 12-level clinical services tower, 130 additional beds, 15 new operating theatres, expanded maternity, obstetrics, paediatric, mental health, and oncology services, as well as a refurbished emergency department with a mental health, alcohol, and other drugs hub, and a dedicated paediatric zone. A new multi-deck car park and additional facilities, including a childcare and community centre, are also part of the redevelopment.

Once the new clinical services tower is operational in early 2026, the upgraded hospital will treat 35,000 more patients annually, delivering improved access to care, reduced wait times, and enhanced services closer to home for the local community. Stage 2 of the project will see the creation of a new community centre and child care centre, to be completed late 2027 and early 2028 respectively.

Delivered as a public-private partnership (PPP) under the Partnerships Victoria framework, the project is being led by the Exemplar Health consortium, with clinical services remaining under Peninsula Health's operation. The Exemplar Health consortium comprises:

• Capella Capital as sponsor and investor;

• Aware Super as investor;

• Lendlease as builder; and

• Honeywell and Compass Group Australia as facilities and maintenance managers.
