Brighton Grammar School has unveiled The Duigan Centre, a state-of-the-art facility dedicated to science, creativity, and entrepreneurship.
This state-of-the-art space is the result of a collaborative effort between Brighton Grammar School, St Andrew’s Parish, and the Diocese of Melbourne.
Spanning 11,930 m² across multiple levels on the secondary school campus, The Duigan Centre is designed to inspire innovation and academic excellence. Designed by Architectus and built by Vaughan Constructions, the facility features a sleek, open design with glass-lined spaces that foster transparency and connection. At its heart lies a central Learning Lane, leading to a vibrant café that doubles as a collaborative hub with open seating for informal study and group discussions.
The facility offers specialised spaces tailored for hands-on learning and creative exploration. These include multi-purpose rooms for robotics and prototype testing, a fully-equipped studio for visual arts, printmaking, and digital media, as well as dedicated laboratories for psychology, chemistry, biology, and physics. Breakout areas and display spaces encourage collaboration, while staff offices, storage rooms, and lab technician facilities ensure seamless functionality.
Additional features enhance both the practicality and aesthetics of the space. A basement car park, covered walkways, and landscaped gardens are seamlessly integrated with St Andrew’s Church, creating a cohesive and inviting environment. The rooftop boasts three tennis courts, providing outdoor recreational spaces with stunning elevated views.
DCWC played a key role in the project, offering comprehensive quantity surveying services to ensure the budget and timeline were meticulously managed. Detailed cost plans were developed during the design stages, offering accurate construction estimates. DCWC also collaborated closely with the project team to manage scope changes and negotiate contracts, enabling efficient cost control and the timely delivery of this exceptional facility.
