Construction of the new Melton Hospital has officially begun!
This project is being delivered as a Public-Private Partnership (PPP) by the Exemplar Health consortium, which includes Capella Capital as the sponsor and investor, Lendlease Infrastructure Investments and Invesis as investors, Lendlease as the builder, and Honeywell and Compass Group as facilities and maintenance managers.
The Exemplar Health consortium will design, construct, finance and maintain the facility for 25 years. Similar to the new Footscray Hospital, the Victorian Health Building Authority (VHBA) will oversee the project, and upon completion, it will operate as a public hospital under the exceptional care of Western Health. Utility and service establishment has been completed, along with the extension of Bridge Road to connect the hospital to Ferris Road.
The new Melton Hospital will be Victoria’s first fully electric hospital and is designed to serve the growing outer-west communities of Caroline Springs, Rockbank, Melton, Bacchus Marsh and Gisborne. The hospital will include 24-hour emergency care, a minimum of 274 beds, an intensive care unit, maternity and neonatal services, mental health services, radiology services, outpatient care, and dedicated spaces for teaching, training, and research.
This project is expected to create over 2,400 jobs during construction and provide more than 3,975 direct jobs onsite once operational. Upon completion, Melton Hospital will have the capacity to treat 130,000 patients annually.
