Kedron State High School's new Performing Arts Centre, designed to enhance music and arts education with state-of-the-art facilities and innovative spaces.

DCWC has been engaged by the Queensland Department of Education to provide Superintendent Services, Project Management Services and Cost Management Services for the development of a new purpose-built Performing Arts Centre (PAC) for Kedron State High School, located on Park Road, Kedron. This project aims to address the growing needs of the school’s strong Music and Arts program by replacing outdated facilities with state-of-the-art spaces specifically designed for performing arts education.

The project involves the demolition of Blocks I and J, making way for the new PAC. Temporary fit-out spaces will be provided in D-Block and E-Block during construction to accommodate the music and arts departments. Following the completion of the PAC, D-Block will be converted into new General Learning Areas (GLA), while E-Block will feature a staffroom extension.

Key Features of the Performing Arts Centre:

Ground Level:
  • Foyer (20m²)
  • 2 Music Spaces (80m² each)
  • Ensemble/Rehearsal Space (60m²)
  • 4 Practice Spaces (11m² each)
  • Staff Workspace (40m²)
  • Kitchenette (5m²)
  • Instrument Storage and Cleaning Areas
  • Accessible WC with hoist and Change Room (15m²)
Level 1:
  • Dance Studio doubling as a Performance Space (130m²)
  • Dance Studio doubling as an Auditorium (100m²)
  • 2 Drama Spaces (100m² each)
  • Retractable Seating (30m²)
  • Dressing and Make-up Areas (15m² each)
  • Props Store (30m²)
  • Costume Stores (12m² each)
  • Foyer Area (50m²)
  • Covered Outdoor Gathering Area (80m²)
  • Box Office/Refreshment Sales Space (25m²)
  • Head of Department (HOD) Office (12m²)

The PAC also includes features such as vertical travel access, audience WC facilities, and ample storage spaces for props, costumes, and multimedia equipment.

The new PAC will provide a 300+ seat performance hall with retractable seating, easily converting into four teaching spaces for Music and Arts. This innovative design ensures the building meets both educational and performance needs, offering students a world-class environment to cultivate their talents.
