The $471.5 million redevelopment of Bunbury Regional Hospital has reached a significant milestone, with groundwork for the new seven-storey clinical tower and helideck completed in September 2025.

This marks a major step forward in Western Australia’s largest-ever regional hospital upgrade, which aims to transform the facility into a cutting-edge healthcare hub for the South West.

The WA Government has also unveiled detailed design renders for the project, showcasing the vision for this $451 million redevelopment. DCWC is proud to provide comprehensive cost management services for this transformative initiative, ensuring the South West community gains access to a modern facility that meets their evolving healthcare needs.

Construction began in early 2025, led by managing contractor Multiplex Perkins Unincorporated Joint Venture. Stage one includes the construction of the clinical tower and helideck, refurbishment of existing facilities to create a new mental health observation unit, an expanded acute psychiatric unit, and upgrades to the central energy plant. The piling works, which involve installing structural columns to support the clinical tower, are now underway. Once complete, the tower will feature a helipad providing direct access to operating theatres.

The redevelopment will significantly enhance hospital services, adding medical and intensive care beds, an expanded emergency department, and increased operating theatre capacity. It will also deliver new and expanded maternity, birthing, and neonatal services, along with state-of-the-art clinical equipment, sterilisation support facilities, and upgraded digital infrastructure.

Mental health services will see a major boost, with the addition of a dedicated mental health observation area and expanded inpatient facilities. Furthermore, the project will establish Western Australia’s first regional training, education, and research centre, enabling healthcare staff across all disciplines to upskill and complete training pathways.

Once completed, the Bunbury Regional Hospital redevelopment will stand as a modern, comprehensive healthcare facility, ensuring the South West community has access to world-class medical services close to home.
