Our Reconciliation Journey
DCWC is committed to supporting Australia's reconciliation journey. We believe that reconciliation will enhance our business and ultimately serve to create a sustainable, vibrant and connected future for all Australians.
At DCWC, our commitment to reconciliation is an ongoing journey. Our previous Reconciliation Action Plan (RAP) expired in June 2023, prompting us to develop a renewed and more meaningful approach. In late 2024, we decided to shift from pursuing another certified RAP to creating our own Indigenous Engagement Plan (IEP). This change allows us to follow a more genuine and achievable path—one that is tailored to our company's size and capabilities.
Our IEP is designed to be concise yet highly actionable, focusing on our strengths in providing pro-bono and low-bono support to Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities and their supporting organisations. A key priority is enhancing our procurement practices to prioritise partnerships with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander businesses.
To ensure accountability and success, our first deliverable will be to establish strong governance and reporting structures that hold us to the goals outlined in this plan. Through this focused and transparent approach, we aim to make a meaningful contribution to reconciliation and foster lasting, positive change. This shift enables us to embrace a more authentic and realistic pathway to reconciliation, underpinned by four key goals.
Goal 1. Strengthen Respect and Recognition underpinned by providing pro bono and low bono Cost and Project Management services to support Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities, along with Cultural Awareness training.
Goal 2. Foster Partnership & Collaboration through economic opportunities through social procurement targets actively supporting Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander businesses.
Goal 3. Promote Empowerment and Opportunity by offering at least one internship to an Indigenous tertiary student specialising in Construction Management or a Corporate Services-related field.
Goal 4. Ensure Governance and Reporting to enhance transparency and accountability through the development of a reporting framework and appoint a champion from each service line to lead engagement and facilitate the provision of pro and low bono support where relevant. “DCWC has demonstrated a clear national commitment to developing strong relationships with
Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander businesses and encouraging more opportunities for Aboriginal
and Torres Strait Islander employment. It has been a positive experience to work with an invested
Australian-owned company towards this commitment”. — Dwayne Good, Founder of InTravel Group
