The project, which has a 5 Star Green Star Design Rating Educational Tool V1, was delivered 108 days ahead of schedule.

SAB is a new teaching facility for RMIT University located on the west side of Swanston Street, directly opposite the main city campus. The building incorporates the latest information technology and sustainability initiatives, including virtual desktop application support, integration of the building automation systems with timetabling, mix mode environmentally controlled spaces and selection of sustainable materials in all areas.

The 12 story building will provide over 35,000m2 of lecture theatres, teaching space and academic offices accommodating up to 6,500 students and 800 staff. The office accommodation has been designed to allow co-location of academic, administrative staff and research students; allowing for a more collaborative collegiate environment.

SAB is also leading the way in IT systems (ITS), featuring the largest roll out of Virtual Desktop Infrastructure (VDI) in Australia to date. Beyond VDI, ITS projects embedded within the project include digital signage, collaborative learning software, lecture capture, video conferencing and Think Print.

Change management has also been a major part of the SAB project with eight strategic learning groups managed by Donald Cant Watts Corke.
