Edith Cowan University’s (ECU) purpose is to transform lives and enrich society through education and research.

Edith Cowan University's ECU City campus was delivered as an innovative vertical campus in the heart of Perth, transforming the educational landscape and activating the Perth City Link precinct. Featuring a dynamic digital media façade, activated streetscapes and immersive entrances, the campus was designed to house world‑class teaching spaces, including the renowned Western Australian Academy of Performing Arts (WAAPA), alongside programs from the School of Business and Law, School of Arts and Humanities, and School of Science.

DCWC provided comprehensive cost management services for this landmark development, being involved from the project’s inception through to completion. Our scope included business case development, cost planning and estimating, procurement, construction financial management, and whole‑of‑life project management, supporting the seamless integration of ICT and FFE across the campus.

The completed ECU City campus now supports a vibrant community of more than 10,000 staff and students, cementing its position as a key contributor to Perth’s education sector and to the city’s cultural and technological advancement. It incorporates state‑of‑the‑art facilities for disciplines such as Dance, Aboriginal Performance, Musical Theatre, Acting, Music, and Production and Design at WAAPA, as well as creative industries programs in Broadcasting, Digital Journalism, Visual Arts, Design and Communications from the School of Arts and Humanities.

Kurongkurl Katitjin, the university’s Centre for Indigenous Australian Education and Research, was also brought into ECU City, reinforcing the recognition and respect of Noongar culture and knowledge within the campus. The School of Business and Law connects world‑ready graduates directly with the CBD, enhancing an already highly rated undergraduate program, while advanced technology and cybersecurity education is delivered through the School of Science, leveraging ECU’s respected Security Research Institute focus on information warfare and cyber‑enabled crime.

With approximately 60,000 sqm of GFA over multiple levels, ECU City has become a dynamic, multidisciplinary campus that enriches education and promotes cultural and technological progress in Perth. Practical completion was achieved in late 2025, with the campus opening to students for the 2026 academic year.
