The Exchange Hotel is a historic landmark recognised in the Shire of Murray’s Local Heritage Survey as a site of significant cultural and historical value. Acquired by the Shire in 2012 in response to community concerns over its deteriorating condition and its impact on the town centre’s amenity, the site has since become the focus of a collaborative redevelopment effort between the Shire and the local community.
The redevelopment aims to transform the Exchange Hotel into a Regional Icon that celebrates the town’s rich history and agricultural heritage, while addressing the needs of both the community and visitors. The project is designed to deliver mixed-use spaces, foster local economic growth, and create opportunities for capacity building. Key objectives include providing a vibrant, multi-functional venue that enhances the town’s identity and supports local producers.
