The world-class Institute was established to combine research into infectious disease and immunity with teaching excellence, reference laboratory diagnostic services, epidemiology
and clinical services.

The Peter Doherty Institute allows around 700 expert scientist, researchers, clinicians, academics, staff and students to share resources, equipment and knowledge. The project includes PC2, PC3, PC4, QC2 and QC3 laboratories.

The Institute obtained a 5 Star Green Star Design rating under the Education V1 tool.

for both accessibility and high security.
