Founded in 1953, Melbourne Theatre Company (MTC) is the oldest professional theatre company in Australia and a semi-autonomous department of the University of Melbourne.

In 2009, the MTC moved from its headquarters in Ferrars Street, Southbank, where it had been since the 1970s, to newly renovated offices and workshops in Sturt Street, along with the newly developed Southbank Theatre.

Formerly known as the MTC Theatre, the Southbank Theatre located at 140 Southbank Boulevard, is a new complex housing a state-of-the-art 500-seat venue, a flexible studio for small-scale work, function rooms, bars and street-side cafes.

Donald Cant Watts Corke provided independent advice throughout this multi-million dollar project.

This advice included:

  • Capital cost;
  • Asset maintenance;
  • Development program; and
  • Risk management.
