The establishment of a 1500m² Field Support Facility at CSIRO’s Black Mountain Campus in the ACT, forms a key part of CSIRO’s ACT Site Consolidation Project as well as the broader Masterplan for the Black Mountain Campus.

This new facility centralises CSIRO’s field support functions accommodating amenities, storage, covered vehicle parking and wash down bay as well as processing facilities for staff undertaking field studies.

Donald Cant Watts Corke provided Project Management services for the project to support the delivery of an efficient, functional and versatile asset that will support CSIRO’s important scientific and research activities into the future.

Despite numerous site constraints due to the complex nature of the site, the building has been designed as a functional and aesthetically pleasing solution that captures the accommodation requirements for the storage and processing functions associated with a broad range of critical field-based research projects.

Constructed with a simple, linear form and large structural spans, the new facility connects to bushland settings through its design, materials and muted colour palette.
