Written by DCWC Team | May 5, 2017 1:12:28 AM

The Biomedical Learning and Teaching Building includes two superlabs, each with a capacity of 240 students together with five additional large teaching laboratories, each with a capacity of 120 students. Every teaching laboratory is supported by breakout spaces along with informal learning spaces.

The main teaching disciplines in the building are Microbiology, Anatomy, Biochemistry, Immunology and Physiology. Microbiology units are taught in a Physical Containment Level 2 (PC2) laboratory, certified by the Office of Gene Technology & Research (OGTR). Anatomy units are taught in a state of the art dissection teaching laboratories to meet the requirement of the Human Tissue Act.

Works included an Early Works package to demolish two existing buildings and to realign the main campus road to make way for the building. The road realignment involved the realignment of all major services – gas, HV including SCADA, sewer, fire, and potable water.
