DCWC has been engaged to deliver Quantity Surveying and Cost Management services for the development of a state-of-the-art biomedical facility, the Australian Institute for Infectious Disease (AIID).

This $650 million project, funded by the State Government and Foundation Partners (the University of Melbourne, the Doherty Institute and Burnet Institute along with philanthropic support), aims to establish a cutting-edge facility within the Melbourne Biomedical Precinct in Parkville.

Located on Elizabeth Street, adjacent to the existing Doherty Institute building, the AIID will unite three of Victoria’s premier organisations in infectious diseases: The University of Melbourne, The Peter Doherty Institute for Infection and Immunity (Doherty Institute), and the Burnet Institute.

The AIID facility will span up to 42,000 square meters, facilitating the expansion of the Doherty Institute and the relocation of the Burnet Institute from its current site at the Alfred Hospital Campus in Prahran. The proposed building will feature 17 levels, including 14 above-ground enclosed levels (one of which will be designated for plant equipment), an unenclosed plant level, and two basement levels.
