Parliament House

CLIENT: Commonwealth Government

VALUE:$1.2B

COMPLETION: 1988

CONTRACTOR: John Holland Concrete Construction JV

ARCHITECT: Mitchell Giurgola and Thorp Architects

We are immensely proud of our part in the development of one of Australia’s most important buildings: Parliament House, Canberra. Opened 9 May 1988 by Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II, Parliament House is an icon of democracy.

Development of the new Parliament House in Canberra was one of Australia's most complex and ambitious building projects, and was duly recognised as such by all involved with the brief development, design, construction and ultimate occupation.

Donald Cant Watts Corke was appointed the role of quantity surveyor for the construction of the new building in 1980. Our involvement led then director John Watts to establish the Canberra office, which continues to have a strong relationship with the Department of Parliamentary Services along with numerous other local and Federal Government departments.
