Last month, Monash University celebrated the official opening of the Green Chemical Futures Building (GCF), Clayton.  The state of the art chemical and engineering hub will support academic and industrial research within Australia’s chemical sector.

Parliamentary Secretary to the Minister for Education and Training, the Honourable Scott Ryan, opened the 9,500m² multi-level facility.  The hi-tech learning facility allows for growth of basic science research to targeted industry-driven enquiry.

With a 5 Star Green Star rating, Green Chemical Futures is designed to function sustainably and reduce environmental impacts.  A centre for world-class research, Green Chemical Futures will expand the nations ‘green workforce’, housing over 100 chemists and engineers.

GCF includes 17 specialist sectors, training programs for industry practitioners and new laboratory spaces for over 1,000 students and 100 industry partners.  Teaching and learning spaces are located on the lower levels, with research and translational facilities occupying the upper levels.

Congratulations to the Victorian Project Management team for the successful delivery of this education and research facility.
