The Loxton Research Centre has been recognised at the Master Builders South Australia 2017 Building Excellence Awards, taking home the prize in the Commercial / Industrial Building $2m to $5m category.

Donald Cant Watts Corke would like to congratulate the builder, Michael Kregar Building and the Department of Primary Industries and Regions SA (PIRSA) for this outstanding achievement.

The annual Master Building awards seek to showcase the incredible calibre of building design and construction within Australia. Topping the state in its respective category, the Loxton Research Centre is designed as a collaborative hub for key agricultural research, education and support services for the South Australian River Murray Region.

The project was delivered as part of the $265 Million South Australian River Murray Sustainability Program (SARMS), an ongoing initiative between the Australian Government and the South Australian Government to support the sustainability of South Australian River Murray communities through investment in irrigation efficiencies, water returns, irrigation industry assistance and regional economic development, including the redevelopment of the Loxton Research Centre.

Regional Development Minister Geoff Brock described the centre as a “building of outstanding quality”, and highly commended the commitment of Michael Kregar Building for their delivery of this facility. Completed in December 2016 on time and budget, the hub features a state-of-the-art 200 seat conference space and flexible meeting room options for agribusiness, education and regional development sector use. With a modern fitout and adaptable design, the building was praised for its ability to merge seamlessly into the surrounding rural landscape and to complement the natural features of the area.

“Congratulations to both Michael Kregar Building and PIRSA for the delivery of this award-winning project. It has been rewarding to be part of the project team and to have witnessed first-hand the success of a local Riverland builder providing local jobs. The Centre boosts South Australia’s agriculture business by utilising innovation and collaboration, which will bring vast opportunities and benefits to the state.” said SA Managing Director, David Scott.

Donald Cant Watts Corke is pleased to have been able to support this project through the provision of Cost Management services, from concept to construction completion.
