DCWC is delighted to have provided project management services for Project 100 at Trinity College, the University of Melbourne, which is shortlisted for the 2021 Victorian Architecture Awards; in the Residential Architecture – Multiple Housing category.
Project 100, designed by Hayball, involved the construction of a new residential building at the Trinity College Parkville campus to accommodate up to 100 students. The building embraces the rich history and strong academic support the college prides itself on, with sustainable commitments and a design that enhances the thriving community network within Trinity College Students and alumni.
In alignment with Trinity College’s sustainability commitment, the new building is heated and cooled using geothermal energy, has a solar array, and harvests and reuses rainwater for the gardens and to flush toilets.
The new state-of-the-art building includes facilities of student study/common area, a gym, music and art rooms, office space and a two-storey Junior Common Room with a balcony. The building is surrounded by external landscaping with lawns and shaded courtyards.
Chair of juries Rosemary Burne said, “What sets the Awards shortlist apart is how entrants have taken innovation to the next level and considered it at all scales – from the single modular unit to a precinct-wide, and indeed a planet-wide perspective”.
