Donald Cant Watts Corke (DCWC) acknowledges and honours the Traditional Owners of the lands on which we work, and we pay our respect to their Elders past, present, and emerging.

DCWC is committed to supporting Australia’s reconciliation journey. As a national company, we recognise the importance of conducting business in a way that engages closely with, and is relevant and culturally appropriate to, the Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities in which we work. We believe that reconciliation will enhance our business and ultimately serve to create a sustainable, vibrant, and connected future for all Australians.

As part of this commitment, DCWC participates in Australian Government initiatives with respect to stimulating Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander entrepreneurship and business development; and to provide First Nations peoples with more opportunities to participate in the Australian economy. We aim to partner with and foster First Nations enterprises; hiring and supporting First Nations peoples and businesses; and encouraging growth, development, and engagement for First Nations peoples in our business sector, and across the community.

Our vision for reconciliation at DCWC is for all Australians to have equitable health and life expectancy outcomes, and equitable opportunities to be a part of the Australian economy. DCWC will contribute positively towards this vision via stimulating First Australians entrepreneurship and business development. We aim to engage respectfully and effectively with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities where we work, to build sustainable career and business opportunities with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples. Equally, we have a responsibility to build awareness and understanding within our workforce on cultures and heritage as well localised customs, practices, and relationships.

Reconciliation Working Group RWG initiatives:

To enable us to implement our commitments, DCWC has established an internal Reconciliation Working Group (RWG). The group is developing, driving, and communicating our Reconciliation Action Plan initiatives across the National business. We highlight some of these initiatives below:

DCWC is a member of Supply Nation

Our Supply Nation membership presents more potential and supports the growth of Indigenous business partnerships throughout DCWC business operations.

DCWC is a member of Reconciliation Queensland

Reconciliation Queensland promotes an ongoing process of reconciliation within Queensland – striving towards an equitable and informed state, which recognises a shared past and respects Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Peoples as the First Australians. We support Reconciliation Queensland and enjoy our ongoing membership by joining the conversation, learning about cultural sustainability, and working alongside Indigenous Queenslanders through strategic partnerships.

DCWC’s Reconciliation Action Plan (RAP)

To further support the national reconciliation movement, DCWC is implementing our INNOVATE Reconciliation Action Plan (RAP), which provides our organisation a structured framework for relevant and culturally appropriate activities to work towards our vision for Reconciliation. DCWC is culturally responsive and believes that developing and implementing a RAP further demonstrates our commitment to reconciliation.

Opportunities to improve cultural awareness

DCWC is improving cultural awareness of staff through events and opportunities to better understand Indigenous culture and demonstrate respect and recognition of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people.
DCWC supports and joins events such as NAIDOC Week and Reconciliation Week, with respective internal and external experiences.

Indigenous Business Engagement and diversifying our supply chain

To strengthen Indigenous business growth and economic participation, DCWC establishes and fosters strong mutually beneficial working relationships with key Indigenous representative organisations and businesses appropriate to our work. DCWC strives to improve our commitment to stimulating Indigenous entrepreneurship and business development by continually identifying, reviewing, and engaging with a more diverse supply chain.

Some of our direct Indigenous Business Partners are InTravel Group and Kulbardi Group. Indirectly, we work with many Indigenous Business Partners to deliver projects.

“DCWC has demonstrated a clear national commitment to developing strong relationships with First Australians businesses and encouraging more opportunities for First Australians employment. It has been a positive experience to work with an invested Australian owned company towards this commitment”.
