Queensland Emergency Operations Centre
This project involved the redevelopment of the Emergency Services Complex. The Airport Tunnel truncated the Department of Community Safety (DCS) Kedron Park Complex site by 40 per cent, which resulted in the development of the entire site.
DCWC undertook an exhaustive space study to determine the consolidation of functions and spaces. This has resulted in the establishment of two critical infrastructure buildings for the DCS: the Queensland Ambulance Service and Queensland Fire and Rescue Services combined Communication Centre, coupled with an enhanced Disaster Management centre.
The communications building is a 000 call taking and response centre for the Queensland Ambulance Service and Queensland Fire and Rescue Service. The Disaster Management Building is a State Disaster Coordinator Centre for Emergency Management Queensland.
We also provided early advice and strategies to the Department on re-stacking other DCS buildings. The facility has a 5 Star Green Star rating, was completed in 2010 and won the Qld State Architectural Award for the Public Infrastructure category.
