DCWC appointed to New Children's Hospital in Perth
Monday 27 June 2011, PERTH -

Donald Cant Watts Corke (DCWC) is excited to announce its appointment as the quantity surveyor and cost manager for the WA State Government's new Children's Hospital in Perth.
Richard Archer, Managing Director WA at DCWC, said his team was thrilled to be a part of such an important new development in Perth.
"To be appointed to this project that will provide the WA community with a modern, state-of-the-art paediatric healthcare and research facility, is fantastic," said Mr Archer.
The $1.17Billion dollar project will deliver a tertiary-level hospital with the capacity for 274 beds, and will house the State's only paediatric trauma centre.
Construction on the facility, to be built on the QEII Medical Centre site in Nedlands, is scheduled to start early in 2012 and finish at the end of 2015.
Additionally, the new hospital will have increased day-stay and outpatient capacity and theatre facilities will increase from six to 11 with room for an additional theatre in the future.
The hospital's design includes 75 per cent single rooms, which will also have increased family facilities and accommodation for parents and carers at every bedside.
Mr Archer said DCWC's extensive health experience in Australia's advancing care models would be a key asset on this project.
"We've been involved at many levels - from strategic planning to project and cost management - on some of Australia's leading facilities," said Mr Archer.
"In Victoria we have recently worked on the new Royal Children's Hospital as well as many other of the States hospitals and we are currently announcing appointments to the New Royal Adelaide Hospital, Royal Hobart Hospital and Sunshine Coast Private Hospital.
"It's fantastic to see our team being involved in every major health project currently underway in Australia; we are committed to delivering best practice health services to all our clients."
The new children's hospital will be located on Winthrop Avenue overlooking Kings Park. It will replace Princess Margaret Hospital for Children in Subiaco, with all clinical services relocating to the new hospital.
The new hospital will provide tertiary and key secondary health services including inpatient, ambulatory and outpatient care.
"We are also currently engaged as WA State Governments quantity surveyor on the $225Million relocation of the central energy plant building on the site," said Mr Archer.
A new children's hospital for Western Australia was announced by the State Government in 2008 to replace Princess Margaret Hospital for Children.
The new hospital will provide the best possible clinical care for future generations and will be the base for continuing WA's outstanding paediatric research.
DCWC will now also move offices in Perth, relocating to Level 2, 982 Wellington Street, West Perth on Monday 27 June 2011.
"All of this activity represents a very exciting time for our company, both here in Perth and nationally," said Mr Archer.
